Jonathan Daniel Kruger Erbstein, born in 1990 in Montreal, Quebec has carved a unique path as an artist, author, and educator, deeply influenced by his personal experiences and academic pursuits. Jonathan's journey into the creative and intellectual realms began at Syracuse University, followed by a transformative period at the University of Miami School of Law, and Miami Herbert Business School where his passion for mindfulness and its intersection with the law crystallized.
Jonathan's artistic journey began under the tutelage of his aunt Beverly at the age of 8. Together they painted first landscapes, then portraits, and finally surrealist works. The catalyst for his abstract work started under the most harrowing circumstances. A traumatic brain injury, sustained in a violent attack, left him grappling with physical and cognitive challenges that seemed insurmountable. It was during this period of intense personal adversity that Jonathan discovered the healing power of art. Initially unable to communicate effectively or engage in many physical activities, he turned to painting as a form of expression and rehabilitation. Over time, art became not just a tool for recovery but a profound passion.
In his artwork, Jonathan primarily focuses on abstract and surrealistic themes, often exploring the interplay of light, emotion, and texture. His pieces are characterized by bold color choices and dynamic compositions that reflect his inner world and experiences. Each painting serves as a reflection of his journey to a life of creative fulfillment.
Beyond his work as an artist and writer, Jonathan is a dedicated advocate for the therapeutic benefits of the practice of mindfulness. He has taught the subject at the University of Miami, helping others unlock their potential through awareness and creative expression. His courses inspired students and professionals alike, fostering a deeper understanding of how mindfulness can enhance personal and professional lives.
Today, Jonathan lives in the Dominican Republic, engaging with local and international art communities. His work, both as an artist and as a mentor, emphasizes the power of art to heal, connect, and inspire, echoing his belief that everyone has a light within them, ready to be discovered and shared.
